Walk The Walk With Foot Care

Your feet take the weight of your whole body, so foot problems can quickly lead to discomfort and affect the way you walk. This can in turn cause knee, hip and back pain.

We often tend to neglect our feet but feet need as much care as your face does. A huge amount of people is willing to put up with sore, aching and painful feet. Perhaps because they don’t know that it can cause adverse health effects.

Foot care becomes really essential if you are a diabetes patient as diabetes can cause you to lose feeling in your feet. When you lose feeling in your feet, you may not feel a pebble inside your sock or a blister on your foot, which can lead to cuts and sores. Diabetes also can lower the amount of blood flow in your feet. Numbness and less blood flow in the feet can lead to foot problems.

Foot care is easy and does not require you to make changes in your routine. Following tips and products can make your foot care regime hassle free and easy.

  • Wash ’em
Keep your feet clean by washing them every day. You can also soak your feet in warm water which is infused with an essential oil, bath salt or an aromatic foot soak – but don’t soak for too long as it might destroy your skin’s natural oils. Washing your feet often makes them get rid off of all germs.
  • Dry ’em

Dry your feet thoroughly after washing them, especially between the toes which is where fungal infections such as athlete’s foot can develop. Use a soft towel cloth to dry your feet.

  • Moisturise ’em

If your skin is dry, apply moisturising cream all over the foot, except for between the toes. Gently remove hard skin and calluses with a pumice stone or foot file – don’t overdo it though or skin will grow back harder than ever. Gently massage your feet with a foot cream that soothes your feet.

  • Tend those cracks

Cracked heels are a very common problem and can range in severity from a cosmetic issue to a painful problem. In addition to dry, thickened skin, the problem may be accompanied by symptoms like redness, itching, inflammation and peeling skin. Tend those cracks with a generous application of a foot care cream.

  • Let your feet breathe

Wear shoes that are trendy and chic but make sure they are comfortable and let your feet breathe. A cuhion padding in the shoe is recommended. Also make sure whenever buy any footwear that it has a perfect grip on the floor while you walk, run or dance.

Your feet go through a lot throughout the day. They run with you, sit with you, walk with you and dance with you, which means they should be as healthy as rest of your body.
